BROWN TROUT SPAWN ON THE GREEN RIVER UT

Winter rates have started at many of the lodges up on the Green River Utah below Flaming Gorge Dam. It’s a great time to get out and enjoy the crisp fall weather with less crowds and save some coin in the pocketbook.  The Brown Trout are starting to spawn, which means good fishing– look for shallow, gravel bottoms and throw an egg in shades of chartreuse, pink, orange, or opaque.  On overcast days huck a streamer!

FAT 23 INCH BROWN LANDED ON SIZE 24 NYMPH

Client TJ from Farmington, UT landed this nice, fat 23 inch Brown on Utah’s Green River below Flaming Gorge Dam- on the B Section. He landed this monster Brown on an itsy-bitsy size 24 nymph. Nice job TJ, we enjoyed having you and your wife with us in the boat!

BIG BROWNS ON DRY FLIES

It’s always a great time on the river in September. The rafting crowds are gone, the weather is still pleasant, the leaves start to change, and the fall caddis come out. Joe Snoy landed several nice fish on his two day trip out on the Green this past weekend- we look forward to more dry fly action- try a hopper, ant, or caddis! Joe Snoy Sept 2016

MARK AND BLAKE LANDED SEVERAL ON DRIES

We had a great time out on the river for two days with Mark and his son Blake- in from Reno, NV. The Caddis and Yellow Sally hatches gave these boys some great dry fly action a few weeks ago! We’ve had double after double this season and these two have kept the trend going. Looking forward to next time guys! — Looking for what to use now? Ants and hoppers are ON.

25 INCH BROWN LANDED ON THE A SECTION

Green River Guides Gene Gautieri, Bo Johnson, and Nick Jackson had the chance to float the A section just below Flaming Gorge Dam last week. The trip was a special one- not only because these are some of top guides for the Green River, UT all having the same day off to fun float during mid-summer, or for the fact that the dry fly fishing is at it’s peak–  this trip was extra special because it produced a MONSTER brown 24+ inches– something we hear about once a season- if we’re lucky.

Geno, a veteran guide on the Green of over 20 years, hooked this MASSIVE brown trout near 25 inches the afternoon of the trio’s float. The big boy ate a triple double and took 20 minutes to reel in. Nice job Geno– you deserve this fish! Thank you for being a pro at catching, and releasing– it took some serious skill to get this one to the net.
