FISHING THE GREEN- FEBRUARY 2017

Guide Ryan Dangerfield headed out to the river the last few days and landed some nice fish on streamers, and on the dry dropper. Later in the day when release flows increase the fishing tends to slow down quite a bit. Expect high flows this year- we’ve had lots of snow and the lake is high!

PYRAMID LAKE NEVADA #1 FLY

When we are not guiding on the Green River, Utah we spend our winters guiding on Pyramid Lake, Nevada- going after the world’s largest strain of cutthroat trout- the Lahontan Cutthroat (20 pounders). There are always  a lot of fly choices when getting out on different waters, so we wanted to share our #1 favorite fly for those of you that might venture west to the alkaline lake. It’s the Original Popcorn Beetle, created by friend and fellow Guide Doug Ouellette. To read about the origin of this killer fly click here, and to learn more about fishing Pyramid or to hire our guide service visit our website . We encourage you to head out to Pyramid, please look us up when you do! We also encourage you to share the story of the Original Popcorn Beetle.
