THE WATER IS LOW BUT THE FISHING IS GOOD!
We’re back on the Green and the fishing is good! The flows are exceptionally low right now so floats are taking a bit longer making our guides get a workout on the oars! Check out this fatty landed by a recent client….!
DRY FLY FISHING IN DECEMBER
If you’re willing to face the cold and wind on the river this holiday week and plan on fishing the Green River UT watch for fluctuating water levels. Release flows from Flaming Gorge Dam will have the fish discombobulated so your best bet is going to be during stabilization periods.
For dry fly fishing use a BWO or small midge in back eddies. Nymph fishing should be a safe bet overall- try midges, eggs, or pheasant tail. Streamer fishing should produce early or late in the day when the water flows are typically changing. Bundle up, stay safe, and MerryChristmas!
BLUE WING OLIVE HATCH IN IT’S PRIME!
This season on the Green River is off to a great start! Guide Nick Jackson snapped this pic of client Donald on their guided trip down the A section the other day. Try a zebra midge up top and a BWO on the lower half. The Blue Wing Olive hatch is at it’s peak- get out there while you can and bundle up!
